Runtime error

When I try to play Call of Duty or Serious Sam. I get a
Runtime Error message. The message box has Microsoft
Visual C++ Runtime Library in the title bar. Anyone know
a fix for this?

#DO you use an ATI Radeon card?
There was a hotfix released for it:

Also check the developer's homepage to see if any other patches were
released. See if they solve your problems.

I have a nVidia GeForce card. The games were playing just
fine prior to installing a new modem and signing onto AOL.
Can't imagine why that would produce the error messages.
