Running Windows Memory Diagnostic

B

Barbara

Got a MS warning that I had a crash and a "serious error"
in my RAM with the recommendation that I run Windows
Memory Diagnostic. Downloaded the mtinst.exe file onto a
floppy per directions.

(I have not loaded any new hardware or software in
months, other than MS Windows updates and security
updates.)

The User Guide then says to reboot from the floppy. When
I try to reboot with the floppy in the drive, it will not
reboot until I remove the diskette and hit the infamous
Any-Key. This is really embarassing. I should know how
to do this - guess it's just been a really, really long
time since I had to boot from a floppy (like years). . .
any help would surely be appreciated. I really can't
close my office and go home until I get this fixed.
Thanks in advance!

yes I had to try it out works good, what you need to do
is:
1.Shutdown (Restart)
2.Tapping your delete key when your Computer Begins it's
restart as you want to get into BIOS
3.Change Boot order to Floppy First, Hard drive second
4.Exit out saving changes
5.Insert your boot floppy you made and restart
6.When your diagnostic Starts take out boot disk
7. It ran a set of 6 Basic tests after which you can
press the X key to stop and resume your restart into OS.
Good luck

Sorry about that don't know what happen to my post from
yesterday. Anyway all you need to do is Shutdown,
Restart tapping the Delete key as you want to get into
Bios to Change your Boot Order to 1: floppy 2: Hard Drive
When you save your changes and exit the Bios have your
floppy Boot Disk you made installed in Floppy Drive so
when you restart your System it will go right into your
Memory Diagnostic Tool you made.
Next you can remove the floppy as the tests are running.
6 tests Then you press X to stop it and reboot.
Hopefully you pass good luck
