Running Webcast from Powerpoint

I am not a programmer. I want to allow users to click on an icon in
Powerpoint and start a 40Meg webcast I downloaded so it will run local to the
PC. It is a .MWV file. I also want to have Windows Media Player started to
run the webcast so it can be paused, started, etc. (the webcast is about an
hour long) When I try creating an object in Powerpoint it links it to the
presentation but simply plays the .WMV file without using media player. When
I try embedding WMPlayer.exe I cannot get the webcast link to start with it.
Is there a parameter I can use after typing wmplayer.exe so Windows Media
Player will play the webcast file I want to run, or some other way to get the
webcast file to run via Windows Media player?

My thanks to anyone in advance for any help with this issue.

Two ways:

Click on Insert, Object, Create from File, browse and select the WMV file,
check the display as icon box. Right click on the icon, left click on Action
Settings, Under Mouse Click choose Object Action, Activate Contents.

or

Click on Insert, Object, Create New, browse to Windows Media Player, click ok.
Right click on the Media Player object, left click on Properties, enter the
full pathname to the WMV file in the URL section.

Either way, the viewer will need to start the video manually.

Without trying to sound like a used car salesman (sorry), our add in
PFCMedia will do all of this automatically for you. We have a feature
called "Media from URL" and it does exactlly what it says, you insert the
URL and the video plays within Powerpoint. You can download a fully
functioning two week trial from www.pfcmedia.com and test it for yourself.
