Running USMT Loadstate as non-admin

Guest

We're getting a "Only Administrators can run this tool" when running
loadstate as a non-admin user on a Windows XP machine. We're using the 2.6
beta of USMT. Here are the steps we are taking:

1. Run scanstate as local admin on NT box
2. Log in to destination XP box for the first time as the user to be migrated
3. Run loadstate
4. Error ensues

Any ideas?

Follow these steps instead

1. Run scanstate as local admin on NT box
2. Run loadstate as administrator on the destination XP (if you dont
specify /user: loadstate will default to load all migrated profiles).
3. Log in to destination XP box as the user to be migrated

Follow up...

First, I would recommend you to post these questions in the USMT2.6
beta newsgroup...:)

Second, try try the /q switch to loadstate. This option bypasses the
administrator checks, but errors will occur if you try to apply
settings to areas for which you have insufficient rights.

Note: The /q option has changed since USMT2.5. In USMT2.5, this option
specified that Loadstate should apply the files and settings to the
current user.
