i have a program that does engineering calculations, this works on win98 but
not xp pro, i would like to run on xp pro if possible, there are no new
versions of the program that i can download.
it appears that when i try to install the program on xp pro from a floppy
that some of the files are not put on to the computer, i know this because i
tried comparing one coumputer (win98) with the xp pro. The shortcut and a
jview.exe file were not copied over, i copied both of these to xp pro and
once i did this, the dos prompt that opens on start up of the program has the
following message
Error: could not locate Java Virtual Machine: Class not registered.

what does this mean?
and does it look like i can use this program on xp pro

i tried changing the compatiblity mode with out any luck.

thanks

Hi

You may need to go to the Sun web site to download Java runtime files.
But first try right clicking the exe file, chooseing Properties then
Compatibility, choose to run it in Win 95 or 98 compatibility mode.

Hope this helps
