Running multiple instant messaging clients

I remember seeing a program that allows you to check email from various
instant messaging programs at one time. I can't remember the name or where
I saw it. I am looking for some way that I can keep just one program open
and have it check email from various sources.

Trillian is good and does exactly that. I think Gaim does, too.
