running Cruel card game in Windows XP

I have attempted to run the Cruel card game in Windows XP. Cruel is a
16-bit software and it will not run in Windows XP. Is there a patch
that I need to download? Thanks very much.

It runs find on XP for me. What symtoms do you get? Just nothing
happening, or is there an error message?

How did you go about installing it? If you just copied the cruel.exe file,
you are missing some of the .dll files that should be in the same
directory as cruel.exe. You need cards.dll at least, and should have
aboutwep.dll, cruel.hlp, and perhaps one or two more.

Do other programs from the Windows Entertainment Pack run for you?

Like other 16 bit programs, it runs under the NTVDM.

I keep getting this message "One of the following files needed to run
C:\MYDOWN~1\cruel.exe cannot load in the 16-bit Windows subsystem
because it is a Win32 DLL." The other programs in the pack do work
just fine. I've have downloaded the cruel.exe file online and can't
find a way to get others. Thanks very much.
