Running an exe using cloud computing

Is there anyway I can upload an exe to a cloud computer so that it
runs it online?

To be more specific, I have a small typing program that I'd like to be
able to run from any other computer in the world, without it
installing it there. So I thought perhaps it might be possible that
some bright spark has thought up the idea of creating a computer that
can emulate a computer with XP installed. Users then upload an exe
which they wish it to run virtually.

That not what cloud computing is to be used for. Web apps, not
executables.

That's pretty much the sort of thing administrators *don't* want you
doing; running executables from who-knows-where on their system.
The best thing you can do, if you're really hell bent on running this
program, is set up a machine with Remote Access, run the RDP client on
the away machine and connect to the host (machine with the program
installed). Once you do that, you'll have a screen within a screen and
it will be just like you were sitting in front of it; except if you're
on a lousy internet connection.

That's kind of what Java and Flash are all about. A Java applet can be
run in the browser of any computer (that has Java runtime installed),
a Flash app ditto.

But no sysadmin is going to want to allow random executables on his
machine. Not to mention that there are many different operating
systems and hardware platforms, and what's executable on one is not
likely to be executable on another.

A process that can be quite amusing to watch. I handed over control of my
partner's loaned work computer and watched the screen for ages as it went
all round the houses trying to correct some glitch with logging on to a
particular site, rather than let her have admin privileges so that we could
simply fix it ourselves. We got the privileges in the end...
