Runner Error

C

Charles C.

Every time I restart my computer I get a small window on
the desktop that reads: '"Runner Error Invalid Backweb
application id "8876480"' At the bottom of the window is
an OK button. Nothing seems to be wrong with my routine
comuting tasks, but the error window is annoying at
least. How can I eliminate the error message window?
Tnaks for help,
Charles C.

Backweb is associated with malware. You don't want it. See this link:
http://www.pestpatrol.com/pestinfo/b/backweb.asp

Run these programs to check for spyware/malware. After installing
update them, then boot into safe mode and run them. You should update
and run them weekly.

My computer was infected with *Backweb* after I had some photo
developed and put on disk at *K-Mart*.
It was not found by *AdAwar
SE * and I have seen other listings that state that other Anti-Viru
and Trojan horse programs also can not find it.
There is n
un-install. Removing the *Kodak* software that installs it does no
remove it.
To disable it, run *MSCONFIG*, look for the Start Men
tab and clear any program you do not recognize, one at a time. Thi
will require a lot of re-boots but you should find one that will sto
the message.
In my case, the offending program was calle
*MOSearch*. Others have found a listing called *DLGLI*.
A registr
search, using *RegEdit* failed to find either of these values
*WinFile* also failed to locate either of these files.
This work
with all versions of Windows from *Win 98 * to *Win XP*
