RUNDLL error(s)

Get this error upon turning on my PC: RUNDll32.exe Bad Image The
application or DLL C:\\WINDOWS\system\cmicnfg.cpl is not a valid Windows
image. Please check against installation software. Plus I get, RUNDLL
Error loading cmicnfg.cpl %1 is not a valid WIN32 application. My Windows
XP was installed 2 years ago, so the installation software would not be my
first choice. What should I check? This is a recent error message.

cmicnfg.cpl is part of your C-Media sound card driver. You should find
the app in the Control Panel. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the
software for your sound card and see if that resolves the problem.

Cmicnfg.cpl belongs to CompuMedia based soundcards and is used to configure
sound card's control panel applet.
