run-time error

I have tried to run two different digital file cabinet programs:
1. Digital File Cabinet from runningman software
2. FileWise

XP home SP2
Lexmark x73 printer scanner

I get this error msg. when trying to run either program.

Run-time error '-2147217900 (80040e14)":
unknown

When I open either of these from the start menu I get this popup. If I open
filewise from Windows Explorer
I get the error message and a new file shows up in the folder ;
fw.ldb 1kb LDB file
As soon as I close the error message the new file disappears.

I have other scanning software on the PC. Everything work just fine.

I have tried uninstalling, running registry medic and reinstalling. Still
the same problem with both programs.

I shut down all running programs before installing, antivirus etc.
I am running zonealarm, Norton antivirus, roboform, webroot spysweeper,
spybot-sd resident.
I just ran, a full virus scan, trojan remover etc. nothing detected, besides
this is the only problem I have.

I tried running the programs from safe mode and still get the error.

Thanks for any advice

The error is indicating there is some problem with MDAC (Microsoft Data
Access Components) or MS Jet components. You might check "Event Viewer" to
see if you can get more information and/or download and run "MDAC Component
Checker" and see if it comes back with any errors. Also, logging in to
windows under a different username than that used to install the programs
could cause this error.

Thanks Jon;

I used both links, it appears I have the latest update for the MS Jet 4.0
Database, and I ran MDAC component checker and did not see any errors. I
have all of the latest MS updates, and am trying to run both programs under
the same username that I used for the install.

Ran event viewer and did not see anything that might explain these two apps.
not running.

This is the first time I have tried component checker and event viewer, so
will spend more time and do some google.

I just did a reboot and checked the event log, there was an error
"boot-start or system start driver failed to load vobiw", I searched
google and this appears to be connected to some pinnacle software, could not
find much information. There were a couple of ATI TV Wonder errors, the
ScsiAccess service failed to start , and two UPS service errors.

Thanks for the links and info.
