'Run Scan Now' button missing

Paul

I am running the latest version of MS AntiSpyware and the
Run Scan Now button has vanished from within the
software. It is available from right clicking the
Systray icon but not in the software.

I go into the scan settings screen and select 'Full
System Scan'but the option to Run Scan Now is missing and
therefore the setting is forgotten when I go to a
different screen.

XP Pro SP2

I've uninstalled the application and deleted the program
files folder and reinstalled but this has not resolved
the issue. Any ideas?

Hello Paul

Try an update install to see if this fixes the issue:
control panel, add or remove programs, Microsoft
Antispyware, change, update

Why not try running it from the Notification Area? Right click Microsoft
AntiSpyware > clicl "Run a Microsoft AntiSpyware Scan".

Also, You can repair Windows AntiSpyware using Add or Remove Programs in
Control Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and click Change. Click Next, and
then click Update.

First off, I'd suggest uninstalling the application the
way you have done so in the past. Now run regedit and
press Ctrl-F and type in Microsoft AntiSpyware. If you
find anything that's associated to MSAS, then the way you
are uninstalling MSAS might be causing the problem to not
be resolved once you reinstall the application. Now
close the regedit window, as you DO NOT want to change
anything here.

To fix the problem, run the installer and
select "Remove," reboot the system, and then run the
installer again. If this doesn't work, remove the
application using the installer, then rename the
c:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware folder to end
with .old, and then reinstall the application. You can
then move the deactivated items from the old install of
MSAS into the new install's folder.

If you are using the Add or Remove Programs feature of
Windows, I'd use that feature as a last resort if you
must uninstall an application, as it can leave remnants
behind in the registry and even some files that must be
removed before one can reinstall the application.

This should fix the problem.

I have run the uninstaller from the start menu. Renamed
the app folder, rebooted and then reinstalled the
application. Still got the same problem. Previously I
have repaired it and run the update, none of this worked.

The problem is that although I can run a system scan from
the Systray as I said before, it does not allow me to
select a 'Full System Scan' and only runs a quick scan.
This does not install me with confidence and I would
prefer a full scan.

There is obviously more afoot than just reinstalling.
Any more help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Clutching at straws, but please try this:

Open a command-prompt window, and type the command:

regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll

Then restart Windows, and try again.

Nah no luck mate. The DLL registered fine but even after
reinstalling it did not work. There has to be some
registry mess I reckon but not sure where to look.
