Incorrect "Last Scan" date?

Help, please, anyone?

My Microsoft AntiSpyware (BETA 1) has been on my computer for nearly a
month. It is configured to run every day at 8 a.m. -- and I know it does
because I can hear it and my computer slows down while it is running.
Additionally, I've run the manual scan several times (full scan and quick
scan).

BUT... for the past two weeks, the "LAST SCAN" has been showing up red and
telling me the last time it has scanned was January 26th.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Microsoft AntiSpyware, but it
STILL said it.

Anyone have any ideas as to what's up with this and or how to fix it?

Much thanks in advance for any help!

After following your suggestions, my MSAS was "active", but every time I
opened the control panel for it, it went through the entire new set-up.

And it still told me the last scan date was January 26th (the same date it
had before).

I used control panel to "update" (even though it updates automatically each
day), but it's still saying January 26th was the last run date, even though I
just ran it manually today.

I'm uninstalling and re-installing, but don't expect any changes.

I wonder, however, if it's really "active" if it's telling me the last scan
date was january 26th, when it's not... if MSAS is actually doing anything at
all when I run it....

Thanks for your suggestion, though. It was definately worth a try...

Here are a couple of ways to check on whether real-time protection is active:

1) hit ctrl-alt-delete and start the task manager. Look for processes whose
image name is gcas*.*.

2) Go to a command prompt.

CD to windows root--either \windows or \winnt, or whatever it is.

md winlogon.exe

Wait about 15 seconds.

You should receive a red warning notice that MiltiBot Pro Security Disabler
is trying to Install.

at the command prompt, do rd winlogon.exe

You can choose either allow or remove--makes no difference, neither will do
any harm or good. Don't choose "always ignore."

Engle,

While I didn't follow your suggestion below, I did get it fixed:

In the past, I had my MSAS set not to give me a results window after it ran
its daily scan. I changed that setting and this morning, after it ran it's
scheduled 8 a.m. scan, the notice window popped up with the results. When I
checked the main control panel, it now says last scan was today.

Thanks for your help!
