"Run" has disappeared

I'm running Win XP Pro, SP3.

My "Start" menu no longer has the "run" function in it. I'd be grateful for
suggestions.

Right-click on Start > Properties > Start Menu tab, click "Customize"
If you're using the XP Start menu, click the "Advanced" tab.
Scroll down to "Display Run command" and make sure it's checked. OK your
way out.

Look at
Start --> Properties --> Customize --> Advanced

There is a check box for displaying the Run Command
