Hermann Warnke

Good morning,

Hopefully someone here can help me. However, thank you for being interested
in this issue.

Well. I migrate to a notebook at the moment. I installed Windows XP Pro SP2
on it. The operating system is not yet activated as I first want to make it
working.

Generally I want to work with a normal user account. Only for administration
purposes I want to have an Admin-Account. Unfortunately the procedure "run
as..." doesn't work as the following happens:

I start a program (e. g. explorer) by "run as...". The corresponding window
opens, I choose the Admin-Account and enter the password. After the OK-click
the window disappears again... and nothing happens. Not even an
explorer-process is being started.

The same phenomenon appears if I use the command "runas" in the CMD-window.

The service "secondary logon" (or similar, I use the German version) runs on
"automatic". "Run as..." doesn't work with other accounts either.

Does anyone have a clue? My google- and mskb-research was not successful. I
was thankful for any hint.

Have a nice weekend by the way.

Hermann

PS: Sorry for crossposting - i wasn't sure which one would be the correct
group.

Unfortunately the key mentioned in the article doesn't exist on my Windows
XP version.
However, the "Run as..." feature IS activated generally. But it doesn't
work...

Thank you anyway!

Look at this:

and try to do the opposite.

I found the solution. You have to activate the explorer option "Open
Explorer in own process" in both accounts (User and Admin).

Thank you everybody.
