Run as Administrator ...

My question applies to many third party programs but I'll use
'nistime-32bit.exe' as my example.

This is a program from the US government (National Institute of Science and
Technology) to provide atomic clock time and adjust your computer clock as
well. I have a shortcut on my desktop to that program and even have it set
to 'run as administrator'. Every time I click on that shortcut I have the
Vista User Account Control pop up that I must 'allow' to get that program to
open.

How do I convince Vista that I am the Administrator and that I trust that
program as well? I have 'run as administrator' clicked on the Advanced
properties in both the shortcut and the actual *.exe location.

The program does work, does adjust my computer clock, I just want to avoid
all this unnecessary mouse clicking. Thanks, DH

Not unless the application is updated to support the new security model in
Vista and run with Standard Administrative privileges.

Well, its really a limitation of the program itself, since applicatons in
Windows Vista need to support the changes in the new user privileges where
applications don't run with full administrative privileges to begin with.
This is a new shift in how developers maintain and update their applications
and it will only take time and possibly new releases of certain programs to
conform to the new standard.

You can't, otherwise malware could do the same thing.

The application is not Vista compatible. You should nag the vendor for an
updated version.

You might want to check into installing Tweakuac
