RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR

How could a shortcut, in the startup folder, run "as administrator" without
right-clicking then selecting run as administrator?

If one had a utility that runs properly if one right clicks then selects "as
administrator", how could it's shortcut run during boot-up assuming the
utilty is in the startup folder?

Depending on the application you check the applications Properites >
Security (tab) to see if the option there to check the program to run with
Administrator priviledges.

You can click on the individual application, go to properties,
compatibility tab. If the application supports it, you can check the box
that says Always Run As Administrator.

For many applications, you can right-click the app, select properties, select
Shortcut tab, select Advanced, then check Run As Administrator.

Hello,

If your intent is to have the program run "as administrator" whenever you
log in, you can create a scheduled task that starts the program when you log
in with highest privilege.

The message below appears:

User Account Control

A program needs your permission to continue

continue or cancel

What must one do so that the message is not displayed?

UAC can be disabled - not recommended - disabling UAC also disables
"Protected Mode" while using IE 7. For example. in protected mode IE 7
downloads apllications/stuff into "virtual" folders and determines safety
prior to modification of Regisrty/System files.

Also color of UAC shield and background stripe indicate threat severity -
e.g. Red shield indicates "dangerous" threat - there are four different UAC
indications - suggest some reading on subject.

Besides disabling UAC, is there another way I can get a utility in the
startup folder to run with "administration"?

I strongly recommend you don't. The utility is clearly not Vista
compatible. Download an updated version which is designed to work in Vista.

If you disable UAC you are undoing a lot of the advantages of upgrading from
XP.

So the problem is that the utility is not Vista compatible. Have I got that
correct?

Go to the following website. JB has developed a program that will
automatically create a scheduled task that will run the program, at start
up, with administrator privileges. This will solve the problem you are
having.

How do I run an administrative program (that needs my permission to start)
every time I log in and prevent the "Windows has blocked some startup
programs" message?:
