Run as administrator. Command line option?

I posted this yesterday.

Windows Mail (used for NGs only) will now only work if I run as
administrator.

Now it has happened with Windows Explorer. If I start it normally I can see
that it finds the site, and then it just sits there with a blank window. No
error messages. If I run it as administrator then all works. And if I
click on a web address in NGs. it also works.

There were no replies. So if I create a shortcut on the Desktop, is there a
switch in the command line to "run as administrator"

Hi,

In the properties of the icon, you should find an option to always run as
administrator. However, you'd be better to figure out what is causing the
issue, as running a program as admin will allow malware the exact type of
access it needs to alter system files.

When you say "Windows Explorer", do you really mean "Internet Explorer"? If
so, the first thing I'd check are add-ons/plug-ins, as these frequently are
found to be the cause of the program requesting elevated privileges.
Disabling them from loading with IE will resolve the problem. I would also
check for any antivirus plugin that is scanning your email, as that could
also be the source.

There may be some registry corruption in your user account, preventing it
from running certain apps. Try making a fresh user account to see if that
is the problem.

It is better to not user the administrator account unless you really have
to.

Thanks. Yes, I have been totally confused by this error. So I bit the
bullet a few hourss ago and Vista has been installed, and stable, for now.
