Run and Command Prompt

Are these two functions significantly different?
If I want to run CHKDSK C: /F, should I use the Run box or must it be in the
"black window"?
I'm also interested in possibly running the SFC. Can that be done from the
Run window? And how, exactly, should it be worded?
