I am the Admin on our small network, and need to run a program as a Service and am ashmed that I don't know how. Xp Pro. If some one could help me, it would be greatly appreaciated.
Don't be ashamed; there's nothing built in to do this. You need a small
program called srvany.exe from the Resource Kit. Download it here:
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/reskit/nt40/i386/srvany_x86.exe
I've never run this on a workstation, but it's supposed to work.

One small problem, you will need to get hold of instsrv.exe as well
as srvany.exe, and unfortunately that one is not available from the
NT4 ftp download area.
A workaround (if you don't have access to the full NT4 RK on CD, or
Win2k Resource Kit), is to use the instsrv/srvany files in the NT 3.5
Resource Kit that is available as a free download. More here:
