Rules with Fax Service

JFR

I would like to create a rule to move faxes forwarded to
my inbox to a public folder. The rule does not seem to
recognize when new mail arrives although it does work on
existing mail if run manually

Faxes forwarded to your Inbox or received in your Inbox? If it really is the
former, how are they being forwarded? Faxes can't be forwarded.

I have the fax service set to send the received fax to my
inbox in outlook. What I want to do is create a rule that
will take the received fax (in email format) and move it
to a different folder (public folder). The rule I am
currently using moves all mail coming into the inbox to
the public folder. This rules works for normal email but
does not work for the faxes. It does work, however, when
I manually run the rule after the fax has been received.

Aha. Moving is different than forwarding. Can't help unless you post your
rule, Outlook version, and fax version. My rule to do that works fine.

Outlook is 2002(10.2627.2625)
Fax Service is from Win 2000 w/ SP2

Rule is shown below (let me know if there is a better way
to post it)

Apply changes to folder Inbox[Microsoft Exchange,Fax Mail
Transport]

Rule Name: SALES[client-only]

Rule Description

Apply this rule after the message arrive move it to the
Sales folder

Sales is a public folder.

The rule works with email comming through exchange. If I
have both email and a fax(email) in the inbox it only
moves the email. If I run it manually with the inbox
highlighted it moves everything as it should.

What are the rule's criteria for moving the message?
I've only worked with rules that are client side. Exchange rules may behave
differently so you may need to ask someone familiar with Exchange.

This is a client side rule. It is specific to this
machine and only runs when Outlook is running. Since the
Fax service does not go through Exchange (I assuming it is
just placing the email in the local inbox), I could not
use an Exchange Rule. Is there some other method of
making client side rules?

I understand it is a client side rule, but having Exchange in the picture
still may change how rules work when it comes to moving messages within the
message store. I only know the rules I've created to move fax messages
within a PST run fine. I still don't see the criterion you used to select
the messages to move in your rule.

I have the same problem than JFR. By a soft the faxes get to the local
mailbox, and by a rule I tryid to move then to a public folder...It's a
client side rule, and the criterion is by the subject of the mail..that is
always the same...but they dont move, only manualy...But I'm trying to move
then by CDO, but I found problems too........
Any idea?

Sorry for my english, I'm from Argentina.

Alicia.
