Rules Messages Also Appear in Inbox

In Outlook 2007 I have my rules set to move messages received from certian
people to a particular folder. The rule works but the messages also still go
to my inbox as well. I don't need to copies. How can I correct this?

When you create the rule, you set the conditions first, then the next step
is to set the action. There are two options to move messages to a folder.
One says to move the message to the specified folder. The other option is
to move a copy to the specified folder. Sounds like you chose the copy when
you setup the rule. Go back to the rules wizard and edit the rule. Step
through the wizard and when you reach the action section uncheck that action
and check the other dealing with moving.

I wish that were it. The rule is just set up to move to the specified
folder. The rule reads: Apply this rule after the message arrives from
(sender) and on this machine only move it to the Specified folder.

You need to add the "stop processing more rules" action to the rules that
move the messages or Outlook will retain a copy in the Inbox so that the
rules farther down can process them as well.
