Hello All,

I'm trying to run some mail rules in Outlook 2003 & am finding that mail is
being duplicated as well as moved. Mail from several accounts comes into my
inbox & each account is given its own folder. However, there is some
onformation that I owuld like moving from one folder to another when it
comes in. I have run a rule to enable this, but the mail now comes into my
inbox, is put in a folder and then is copied into its final destination
meaning that I have two pieces of mail, one in the original folder & one in
the destination folder. Can anyone tell me why this might be?

Thanks

Sam

You must also add the action "stop processing rules" to your rule. This will
prevent duplication when multiple rules apply.

And sometimes you need the "delete it" action, because a move doesn't appear
to be the same as a file system move. It doesn't delete the original, at
least in my tests.

It does delete the original. Did you try it with when a message is being
send or received? Whit a "send" rule the rule states "move a copy" so it
will leave the original as well.

Received. When a message came in and a rule moved it to another folder, the
inbox had a copy, along with the other folder. When I added "delete it" to
the actions, the Inbox copy went away.

Is it the only rule you have (enabled)?

No, but ALL my rules have "stop processing" on them and I made this one the
first rule when I tested it.
