ruler width in Outlook

I hit a key, and suddently the ruler in my Outlook message post window shrank
to a couple inches wide. This created a miniscule version of the email I was
writing. I had to increase size of text to 90 to be able to read my message.
The message column is now about 2" wide. Please help. I tried closing the
message but whatever this is has now become permanent.
