Rule Wizard (Set up rule with "And" conditions)

How would I set up a rule to recoginize and process a specific word or
group of specific words AND another specific word or group of specific
words that are, or could be, separated by other text.

For example: I want a rule that will delete any message that contains
the words "Greg Maxey" AND the word "test" in the subject or body. So:

This test from Greg Maxey will be deleted.

This test from John Jacob Jingleheimershmidt will not be deleted.

This line of text from Greg Maxey will not be deleted.

I am only able to create a rule that contains "Greg Maxey" Or "test"
and so all of the above examples are deleted.

Thank you.

I don't think there is a way of using the boolean operation AND in the
message rules. There is third party software that can do this but they want
$30 for the privilege.

Luckily, since you just want to delete those messages that have both words
there is a work around for this. Junk Mail. Outlook junk email settings are
already setup to use boolean operations in trying to figure out what it
thinks is junk when it gets rid of new messages. So you need to do a search
on your computer for the file named FILTERS.TXT it will most likely be in a
subdirectory under your office folder.

When you open it up in wordpad it should have this at the top.

One of the rules below will probably be this one:

Subject contains "!" AND Subject contains "free"

Copy that line right below itself and change the one you copied to:

Subject contains "Greg Maxey" AND Subject contains "test"

Outlook will now think that email is junk mail and delete it.

Jeff,

Thanks. I will take a look at the junk mail filter and see if I can
adapt it to meet my real requirements.

Sorry, no. First, that file was applicable only for Outlook 2002 and
earlier and second, it's for informational purposes only. It does not
affect the junk filter in any way whatsoever.

Brian,

Yep. You confirmed the frustrating result of my attempts to work the
filter.txt file. MS should consider this for a future upgrade to make
the Rules Wizard more versatile.
