RTP

Is Defender going to have user access to RTP like MSAS did? That was
very, very useful in MSAS and I don't see the path to them in Defender other
than on/off for all. It may be that in trying to simplify the UI; MS may
have taken a step backwards in functionality, I realize this is a Beta
release and hopefully it will be addressed in future releases But having
detailed info and control over settings is very useful. Am I missing the
path to these options? Any help would be appreciated.

Ah,
D'oh I'm so slow sometimes;yup there they are. Thanks, Oh 1 real
quick question-will the user be able to interface with those RTP's like in
MSAS where it showed what they were scanning and info about what they found?
I saw the Understanding RTP but it just tells what they scan. In MSAS you
could go to a panel and see the specific actions it took and why. That was
very nice. Just wondering. Thanks about the earlier thing tho-get so busy
sometimes;don't even look at the obvious-sorry.

I've seen lots of people miss that scroll bar--including other MVP's.

I don't think you are going to see a return to the way Microsoft Antispyware
worked in this area--but critiques of the help text are welcome, and close
examination of the System events log (filter on source "WinDefend")--should
show lots of detail--and there may be room for changes in these event
messages, as well.

So by going to the sys logs I'll be able to see it? Thanks again;you have
cleared up many of my reservations about Defender, Thanks again.

Yes--you can even create and save your own custom view of the system events
log, so that you have a link that just shows WindDefend entries.

Well Bill,
Coming from a background as a technical specialist for ATT;being
responsible for troubleshooting one of the largest Data Networks in the
world;and being very versed in Data transport systems; it is still way
beyond me as how to operate Windows XP proficiently; so any help as to how
to set-up stuff;such as logs; would be extremely helpful. Sort of ironic;I
can run with the best of them when it comes to transport(i.e. svc's
pvc's,network protocols(tcp-ip;udp etc routing;translations etc.) but this
is definitely a new world for me when it comes to actually using my pc for
more then just surfing. So any help and/or even direction is extremely
helpful to me. Thanks again;and in your area of expertise;I definitely am a
"newbie". So if ;whenever you have the time, if you could suggest a good
resource; I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again,

Jeff
