rtf codes in Word

Hi everyone,

When you open an .rtf file with Notepad, all rtf codes are revealed. Is
there a way to open an .rtf file in Word with all codes revealed?

I would like to do a search and replace on quite a number of rtf codes in
quite a number of rtf files; in Word, I can write a macro that accomplishes
this. I've never written a macro in Notepad. :^)

Thank you,
Cooz

In Word 2003 or earlier, go to the General tab of the Tools > Options
dialog; in Word 2007, go to the Advanced tab of the Office button > Word
Options dialog and scroll down to the General section. In either version,
check the option for "Confirm conversion at open".

When you open the RTF file, choose the Plain Text item instead of the RTF
item, and you'll see all the codes.

I'm not sure what will happen if you make changes and resave the document as
RTF -- whether you'll get a second set of RTF codes or not. It may be safer
to save it as a plain text (*.txt) file and then change its extension.
