RSM Eject

S

Scott Davis

Folks,

I use this command under 2003 server:

rsm eject /lf"DLT"
... and it works fine. Spits the tape out.

I issue the same command to the same hardware, under WinXP PRO and
apparently it wants more arguments. WTF? I'm done arguing with it. I
just want to eject the damned tape. *grin*

Okay, let's get a little more specific:

The hardware is an HP d530 Desktop, Running WinXP Pro. I stuffed an
Adaptec 39160 controller into it -- and attached the DLT40/80 after I
drilled some holes to physically attach it.

RSM EJECT /LF"DLT"
reports:
"additional arguments required."

What additional requirements? Under 2003 server, the RSM knows to spit
the tape out.

What is the solution?

At the end of the day -- my backups operate fine. If my user has to
press the button, wait, and then flip the handle--that's how it'll be done.

This absurd non-descript error message is annoying -- and
inappropriate.. It's really making me scratch myself.

Any and all help would be VM appreciated!

add another switch in front of ' /lf"DLT"

either:
/sgslot_id
Specifies the slot holding the media to eject, using the GUID.
(rsm view [/guiddisplay])

or

/sfslot_id
Specifies the slot holding the media to eject, using the friendly name.
