rps service terminated

I have been trying to update windows xp home ed. and after
about 1 minute,a new window pops up stating"windows will
restart in ___ seconds due to remote procedure service
terminated unexpectedly by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. This
happens everytime. does anyone have any suggestion?

Thank you for replying but I doubt that possible. What I
didn't include in the original was the fact this computer
is hooked up to the internet on 2 or 3 times a year and
just to update windows xp and nortons. It's in my kids
room and don't want them on the internet unsupervised!!
I will look into to it tho.
