RPC Server Unavailable

Whle trying to install a new printer, I receive the following error message

There was a problem installing this hardware:

Epson Stylus cx3800,

An error occurred during installation of the device

RPC server is unavailable.

The Epson tech support say it is a Windows XP problem. Any ideas?? Thanks

I got the same message, not when installing a printer, when I defraged using

System Mechanic and my speakers mysteriously stopped working. The error

msg popped up when I tried to reinstall sound blaster. I ran a diagnostic
check

and the Wave, MIDI, Mixer, and DirectSound 3D Drivers all fail as well as the

mixer settings check. What is this msg? Thx.
