I have a client the is using exchange 2003, RPC over https and NTLM.
Everything is working fine apart from one new PC.

For some reason the save the password option is not displayed when prompted
for a password.

There are currently 25 over laptops where this feature is available, I have
double check my settings and the are exaclty the same?

Can you help me?

I think I had this once before, if my memory is correct I had to modify the
registry?

Help welocme as I need to resolve this asap.

they all have the same os version and there isn't a policy applied that
doesn't allow the user to save the password? Is always prompt enabled on the
security tab?

Yes they have the same OS version.
The machine is brand new and is not going to join the domain, so there are
no group policys in place, Its XP straight out of the box from sony with no
modifcations.

To clairfy, the user is always prompted for a password when the open
outlook, but there is no option to save the password, its almost like its
using basic auth instead of NTLM.
All of the other machines had the option save the password.

Does this make sense?

That's how it is on XP Home systems - I wonder if it's controlled in pro by
an option as all of my pro machines can save the password. One of the first
things I do on a new pro machine is change some of the options in windows
explorer and get rid of simple file sharing.

I have five XP home machines that let me save the password.
So I disagree with your last post.

Is there anything else you can recommend?

I can also confirm the following registry key exists and is set to 0

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
Value Name: disabledomaincreds
Value Type: REG_DWORD
Values: 0 = allow domain credentials to be stored

Idea's opinions accepted,

regards

Jerico
