rpc over https via Outsourced Proxy server

Hi

my prospective clients are testing Outlook 2003 (rpc over https) at their
site. Their internet access is through an outsourced proxy server.
For internet access, each user needs to enter a username and password
before they are connected to the websites.

However, when testing Outlook 2003 access(rpc over https), they are not able
to connect to the Exchange server.

For 1 hour, they asked their vendor to lower the security level. That means
internet access do not require proxy authentication.
The Outlook 2003 access(rpc over https) also worked successfully.

However, the security setting was set to the original setting. This is what
the vendor provides for its client... high level security.

Anyone knows if this problem can be overcome?

Sounds to me that they change more than just authentication then since it
should work with (practically) any active Internet connection. They keep
port 443 open, right? Are you able to access any other HTTPS sites when
they've set it to "high security level"?

I've crossposted this one to the Exchange admin newsgroup as well.

Hi Roady,

during the high level security setting, they are able to access other HTTPS
sites using their Internet Explorer.
But when they use Outlook 2003 (rpc over https) client, they are unable to
obtain the pop-up login window to enter their username and password. The
login credentials are for the proxy server to authenticate.
