rpc locator

hi,
whenever i startup my laptop, i get the error "rpc locator encountered a
problem and need to close. ..."
any reason why this is so?
and any way of fixing it?

Most likely you do not need to use the RPC locator service. While logged on
as an administrator user services.msc in the run box to open access to
services. Find the "remote procedure call locator" service and set it to
disabled for startup type. WARNING!! There is also a "remote procedure
call" service which must NOT be disabled or you may not be able to logon to
your computer again so be very careful if you decide to try managing your
services. You should also scan your computer with your antivirus program and
a spyware detection and removal program such as the free for personal use
AdAware SE if you currently are not using one. --- Steve
