cheers ....

uninstalling SP2 or Mcafee 8 solves the problem .....
are there any configuration work arounds?
ive got a feeling it has something to do with the blocked ports by
both bits of software ..... im not sure

Faulting application locator.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module
locator.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x00010869.

I keep getting this error everytime I power on my machine. Everything runs
fine when I come up. I have loaded XP SP2 and this error started after I
loaded SP2.

It does not give me enough information to figure out what is wrong. Any help
would be appreciated.

I am getting this same error - it seems to only happen when I am using the
computer and not connected to the domain. IE the computer can't see the
domain controller. As soon as I connect to the network where the DC resides
- the error stops popping up.

Hello Bryan, I am getting this same error.

I am also getting the same error. It also only seems to appear when I am not
connected to the production network or the domain. Also when I'm wireless.
I'm going to do some tests with the firewall and wireless connection
settings.

Also, if I VPN into the domain the error goes away.

FYI, shutting the firewall off of my wireless adaptor (while drastic) seems
to have helped the problem go away. A trace may be in order to see exactly
what causing it and making a specific exception rather than shutting the
whole firewall down...HTH.

FIY - Removing NAI VirusScan 8i and going back to 7.1.0 fixed this problem.
