I wondder What the purpose of Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service on Windows
2000 Professional is? Is there any problem if I stop it?

What about Distributet Transaction Coordinator service? can I stop it?

I would like to know about this because my Security Scanner keeps warning me
about this fpr host on the network...

Thanks
Chi

Hi Chi-

Here's an excerpt on that service from the Security Resource Kit:

Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Provides the RPC endpoint mapper and other miscellaneous RPC services. If
this service is turned off, the computer will not boot. You should set this
service to start automatically.
