Alex

I have a couple of PC's connected to my router at home.
I cannot access the router configuration utility on the
router. I contacted US Robotics and they were not able to
help.
I have the right IP configuration. In
tool>connectons>settings
"never dial a connection" is grayed out.
In the LAN setting I unchecked everything but when I open
IE again "use proxy setting for your LAN'
is checked again.(this is the problem)
I access the internet through my cable modem. I have
Optimum on line, xp.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Alex

Several routers have configuration controls built in to them and we access
by HTTP access to the unit.

Please give more detail (model) of the router.

With many routers you have to turn _everything_ off (including cable modem,
splitter etc) then power it all up in the right sequence starting at the
cable. It can even help to wait a few mins between powering up each box in
turn just to be sure the previous box is up and running before powering on
the next one.

If I cheat and don't do this I can surf the net ok but I can't access my
Netgear router set up page. Dig out the manual for your router and follow it
to the letter. Sometimes it takes 10 mins or more for my ISP to allocate an
IP address to the router - crazy but true. When it eventually gets one all
works great.
