Hello again.I know im being a bit thick but I need to ask some questions.
What is a router?
How do I know if I have one?
If I have one,how can I tell what sort it is?
Please when answering can you put it in simple terms as I am not totally
computer literate
Thank you for any help

If you didn't buy one and install it, you don't have one.

Trudi, along with Mr. Willett's good advice check out this link to the
Linksys Learning Center (TinyURL'd):

Look under Network Hardware for the answer to your question. This isn't
a plug for Linksys; it's just that they've got some good networking
information there aimed at the home user.

Not necessarily! it could have come as part of a Broadband package and been
installed by the provider so the OP might not know anyway!
