Router with Port access control vs time

Is there a router product for home network that would allow one to block www
access by setting a time window of access for a particular cable port or by
the mac address? This to limit kids use of ww after hours vs manually
pulling the plug. I have Linksys befsr41 now that doesnt do that.

Any thoughts?

You need a router with that feature.

I've got a Netgear DG814 that allows you to do a timed block of web-sites
that contain specific words. I have one of these words set to 'www', and
block access at certain times for the kids' computer. My computer bypasses
this block.
There may of course be much nicer ways of doing what you want.

Mine... MR814 I think, has the same. Set a schedule... I think only one can
be added... and use that rule for what to block in 'block services'. Add
whatever ones you want to the list. In your case add HTTP. There are a few
other presets (FTP etc), or you can also add custom ones if you know which
specific ports to block.

Then again, you can make a custom one and simply block everything under the
sun. No web. No chat. No online games. Nadda. ;o)

that should work...I just got a Dlink DI604 which says it has that
capability but I could not get it to work....even just as switch in LAN. It
was constantly scanning for IP address...so I pulled it out and put back
BFSR. Ill try another store. This was the only one frys had that said it
had parental control but its a piece of shit. It it doesnt work with little
bit of prodding its not worth the trouble to persu. Linksys works right
off.
