Router cannot get an IP from cable modem

For some reason, my router cannot pull an IP from my Motorola Surfboard
cable modem. When my PC is connected to the router, it gets an IP just
fine, but for some reason the router cannot (and I have 2 of them, both
experiencing this problem). Any advice?

Thanks,
- Coleman

You probably have to reset the cable modem, by unplugging its
electrical power for a few seconds, after moving it from one device
(PC or router) to another device.

Make sure that you're connecting the cable modem to the router's WAN
(Internet) port, not to a LAN port.
