i have a linksys router (BEFSR41) and i use zone alarm on all 3 computes but the firewall prevents communication b/n computers do you have any recommendation for a router that has the firewall built in so everyone is protected AND connected w/ each othe

(supposedly the router I have does includes a built in firewall but it doesn’t prevent much

thanks

You shouldnt have to waste money on a router.
Go into the zonealarm settings and see if it has any type
of "network wizard". You need to configure the firewalls
on all the machines so they know there is a network there.
FOr example I have nortons firewall. After running the
windows network wizard on both computers I went into my
firewall and ran the firewalls network wizard on both
comptuers. Works fine. Now I dont know about zonealarms
setting but look into the help files and settings and see
whats there. This could be all your problem is.

Bring up the Zone Alarm control panel, then click on Firewall, then click
on Zones, the click on Add, then on IP Range. Enter a range of IPAs
that covers all your PCs (like 192.168.1.0-192.168.1.255), then give it
a name (like MyLAN), selected Trusted Zone, then hit OK, then hit Apply.
Repeat on each PC on your LAN. Now, your PCs can all see each other, and
can share stuff.

The firewall in your router supplies protection against inbound attacks,
but no protection against outbound attacks. ZA will guard the outbound.

Problem: Windows Media Player 9 conflict with ZoneAlar

Error C00D10B

I ‘m using WMP 9 running XP professional

The firewall is ZoneAlarm 4.5.594.000…the free version not the PR

WMP will play internet stations when zonealarm is OFF

I tried to add the IP address to zonealarm’s firewall (don’t think I am doing that correctly). But it still won’t connect

The wired think is I have a 2nd computer and WMP CAN connect while ZoneAlarm is on and I didn’t need to give it permission

I tried the followin
Reinstalling both WMP and ZoneAlar

Can someone please help…I don’t understand how to do the following (http://www.nwlink.com/~zachd/pss/pss.html#offline

If you're running a firewall, read this for configuration information.. Also, some sites require cookies for the content to play, so disabling cookies may disable WMP's ability to play a file. Note that ZoneAlarm (Pro) will usually neatly disable WMP from working, so either give WMP permissions within Zone Alarm (per Dave Roth: set Zone Alarm to Medium security, or go into the Firewall settings page and hit the "Custom" settings button, enable the "Allow outgoing TCP ports" option, then specify "554, 1755" as the selected ports), or uninstall Zone Alarm if you want things to work.

I don’t understand how to do the configuration information or to allow the outgoing TCP por

Thanks,

I can't help with that. I'm running ZAF v4.5.594.000 with High security
for the Internet Zone and WMP v9.00.00.3008 with no obvious problem.
I don't play the net radio much, but it did play when I tried it this a.m.
