Rotating Photos in Windows XP Explorer

I used to be able to rotate photos in Windows Explorer by
right clicking a thumbnail image and selecting either
rotate right or rotate left from the menu. This would
rotate the photo from portrait to landscape but not
otherwise alter the file -- a great feature with digital
cameras.

A while ago these rotate options disappeared from the
right-click menu options. How can I get back this great
XP feature?

Filmstrip view allows you to temporarily rotate photos for
viewing but it does not permanently change the file so
that it always opens in the correct orientation.

The function that disappeared would permanently rotate the
image so that it would open in the correct orientation in
any application or any filmstrip or thumbnail view in
Windows Explorer. This was very useful for those digital
shots where the camera was rotated 90 degrees.

I suppose that the missing right click mouse commands to
rotate a photo right or left was probably in the filmstrip
view as well since other commands such as "Open with"
and "Send to" are available there.

I appear to have found the solution to disappearing right-
click "Rotate clockwise" and "Rotate counterclockwise" in
another post. The solution to disappearing request to
resize a photo when e-mailing has restored the errant
commands. For anyone else with this problem, try this:

Go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes and with a space between between 2 and
S)

This restored right click rotation functionality in both
filmstrip and thumbnail views. To whoever posted this
solution, thanks.
