romming profile problems after service pack 4

I have problems with romming profiles. When a user is
working on a machine with service pack 3 or below for
windows 2000.They go to a machine with service pack 4 and
the romming profile error comes up.The only solution is to
create a new profile folder and copy the old one to it.

Is there any solution to this problem and how has this
error caused?

I have a few users to do and would appreciate if anyone
could help.
