Roaming Profiles

D

Drew

Just wanted a quick sanity check on the way roaming
profiles work.

When a user logs in and has a roaming profile it will
download the remote profile IF there is no local profile.

IF there is a local profile that is newer (ie. user has
made changes to local profile) then ONLY the changes are
uploaded to the remote profile.

Is this correct? I have a user complaining of performance
but I think his local profile got currupted and he had to
re-download his entire profile.

TIA,

Drew

Drew,

If the user has a roaming profile defined in Active Directory Users &
Computers, it will load that profile everytime the user logs on. If the
client cannot contact the server that holds the roaming profile, it will
then load a local profile. If this is happening, you would receive an error
discussed in the following article:

257580 Error Message: Windows Cannot Find the Local Profile and Is Logging
You
