roaming profiles: how to move to a new server

dear ng
my w2k3 server's disk crashed. it stored all my xp-users profiles on a
share. now i have reinstalled the the server; same server-name, same domain.
can i use the profiles saved on a backup from the crashed server or should i
rebuild the profiles ??

Just restore the profile tree from backup. Roaming profile synchronization will overwrite older files you restore if the workstation
has newer ones. Some users may end up with files they deleted "reappearing," (but this is much better than the alternative.) If you
are using a group policy to limit profile size you might want to turn that off while the dust settles on this.

I have no idea how you would even go about "rebuilding" user profiles.
