Roaming profile errors

The problem I am having is users running XP SP1 on Dell Laptops. They can
log onto the network with their roaming profile fine. When the log on the
laptop while it is not on the network, they get a error, your profile cannot
be found, logging you on with with a temporary profile, changes will not be
saved.

However I can logon in both cases with the domain admin account just fine,
but their domain profiles are not on the laptops just the domain admin.

I made sure they have admin rights to the local machine and tried creating
new roaming profiles fearing corruption. But this has not resolved the issue
either.

Any thoughts?

This is the way this is supposed to work. The local users are completely
different users (SIDs) than their network counterparts. You can spoof this
with the ProfileList key in the registry by pointing the local profiles to
the same location though this is not recommended.
