RIS Windows XP on Optiplex GX620

Nazarah

think I have finally about lost it with this thing..........

I have read countless posts here and there and everywhere about this
problem.

Brand new GX620. One of 16 which I want to use RIS on.

PXE boot works just fine, I go through the beginning of the mini
install, and then right after "inspecting hardware configuration" it
gives me the dreaded message that the network driver is not included in
the image.

Here is the process I have followed:

1. Created one, flat XPSP2 image on a 2003 RIS server
2. Created one RIPrep image on the same server
3. Downloaded the Broadcom drivers from Dell web site (R97582.EXE)
4. Unpacked drivers and found the 3 files for the XP based drivers
5. Modified b57win32.inf (located in the I386 directory) under the
manufacturer heading to be the following:

[Manufacturer]
%BRCM% = Broadcom.NTx86.5.1, NTamd64

6. Modified riprep.sif in the templates directory to be the following:

[Unattended]
OemPreinstall = yes
OemPnpDriversPath = \Drivers\Nic
FileSystem = LeaveAlone
ExtendOEMPartition = 0
TargetPath = \WINDOWS
OemSkipEula = yes
InstallFilesPath = "\\%SERVERNAME%\RemInst\%INSTALLPATH%\%MACHINETYPE%"
LegacyNIC = 1
DriverSigningPolicy = Ignore

7. Copied the original version of the drivers to $oem$\$1\Drivers\Nic

Then tried installiing via RIS with the same error message. I did the
same modifications to the base XPSP2 image, and have the same problem.

Can anybody PLEASE lead me in the right direction? This is getting on
my last nerve. This is only my first experience with RIS so far, but my
opinion of it right now is terrible.
