right shift key doesn't work

When connecting to Windows 2000 terminal service using
remote desktop client (Windows XP) and not terminal client
(Windows 2000 and others) the right shift key doesn't seem
to work. I can't install the terminal client on XP
machines.
Anyone has any ideas?
