I know of 3 XP pro computers that have this problem and
I'm surprised that the KB doesn't address this.

When right clicking (or using the keyboard context menu
button) on anything an hour glass appears and never goes
away. (it's like XP is looking for a file that doesn't
exist)I must use Ctrl + Alt + Del to end the task.

Anyone know how to fix this short of a clean install?

Hi! tbrox!

Do you have
Hotfix #821557 installed in your xp? This may cause such problem.
If then remove and retry.

When I right-click a file or folder, sometimes my CPU goes up to 100%

FYI this also happens when I start the computer in safe
mode. It also happens on any and all right clicks such
as the desktop, task bar, mycomputer ect...

I will check out 821557 update.
