Right mouse button

My right mouse button dose not seem to function properly.
It should birng up a drop down menu for various actions when clicking on
items.
It works on come menues but not on the desktop or on individual files.
is there some setting for this,i cant find one anywhere.

I've tested the nouse and there is no hardware fault.
any help would be great.

.... Click Start
.... Click Run
.... Type regedit
.... Go to this key :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
.... Delete "NoViewContextMenu" from right side
