Right clicking on drive/folders causes explorer to hang

When I right click on a drive or a folder in windows
explorer it takes forever (up to 1 minute or more) before
the context menu pops up. Explorer does not show as "not
responding" in task manager, I just have to stare at the
hour glass until it decides start working again. Win2k
with SP4 and all Win2k hot fixes installed.

This same question gets asked and answered at least three
times every week. Do a Google Usenet search for this:

slow "right-click" novell

here:
http://www.google.com/advanced_group_search?hl=en

Sort the results by date.

The most common cause is 4.8x or 4.9x versions of Novell's
client software.

You're right Rick, I see many many posts from people with
the same problem. However, I don't see that many posts
with actual solutions and unfortunately for me none with
solutions that actually fix my issue. Any help at this
point is appreciated.

If you hit ctrl-alt-del and post your list of processes, maybe I
or someone else can help. Any third party software installed
(antivirus, etc) is also a suspect. Check their websites for
any Win2K SP4-related updates or fixes.

I see Network Associates/McAfee antivirus, Symantec Ghost,
a pointer tracker for IBM laptops (tp4serv.exe) and several
other third-party processes. Any of them could be causing
your problem.

Check for updates to your antivirus software first. Also, do
you know what WDNPSVC.EXE is for? I see no reference
for it anywhere on the web or in Usenet's archives.

(P.S. stick to this thread please -- I responded to your other
thread as well.)
